How to Clean Brass Earrings

How to Clean Brass Earrings?

Brass earrings are a beautiful addition to your jewelry collection. Brass is more affordable than gold or silver and can look just as nice – as long as you maintain and clean it properly!

Your brass jewelry can lose its luster by getting a buildup of dirt and oils over time. It can also become tarnished when exposed to moisture, causing it to take on a greenish color.

Here are a few simple ways to clean your brass earrings and keep them looking as good as new!

  • Soap and Water: The simplest method to clean your brass earrings is with a mild soap and warm water. Wet a soft washcloth in a bowl of warm, soapy water and use it to wipe the dirt off your earrings. Once finished, rinse the earrings and thoroughly dry with a dry cloth.
  • Lemon (or Lime) and Salt: Fill a small bowl with salt, then cut a lemon or lime in half and coat the cut side in salt. Rub the salt-covered citrus on your brass jewelry. Make sure to be gentle so you don’t scratch your earrings! Finally, rinse with water and dry completely with a cloth.
  • Vinegar and Baking Soda: Pour half a cup of vinegar into a small bowl, then mix in baking soda to create a paste. Coat your brass earrings with this paste and allow it to sit for around 20 minutes. Finally, rinse the mixture from your jewelry and dry with a cloth.
  • Toothbrush and Toothpaste: Use an old toothbrush with some whitening toothpaste on it to gently scrub your earrings. Once thoroughly cleaned, rinse your jewelry and dry it with a cloth or towel.
